Magic. One of my most favorite themes to document.
There's something about that gleam in a loved one's eyes, the feeling of your head hitting your pillow after an extremely long day, a nice cup of hot tea on a chilly night, the warmth of the sun on your skin....there really is so much magic all around us in our everyday lives. "Everyday magic", we'll call it.
And then there are those really special moments. The memories that you know you'll always remember, even without a scrapbook layout to remind you of how you felt. The memories you'll hold dear to your heart because they touched you in such a way that you're just not the same afterwards.
This was one of those memories for me. I'm absolutely positive my children, or anyone else in my party for that matter, would not have any recollection of this moment, if not for this layout in our album. It certainly wasn't a magic moment for anyone else but me. I was deeply moved by the scene in front of me. The journaling I went with stays on the surface, but when I see this photo and this layout, I'm reminded of the meaning it has for me, personally.
I love this photo. I love the memories it evokes. My children were in such awe, admiring the beautiful holiday decor at Disneyland. The sheer and utter delight on their faces. The chill in the air. The light pouring through the tree. So much goodness.
Here's a closer look at the details...
I kept the design very simple by building layers beneath the photo.
A few strips of paper, a "magic" stamp, a plastic phrase arrow, a grey tag and some chipboard pieces.
Sewing and a couple of staples add a bit of texture.
Journaled on the tag and called it done. (I'm aware of the tiny typo and am glad I journaled in pencil so I can easily erase the tiny mark.)
So there you have it. What I think will be the first of many "magic" layouts I'll be sharing here over time.
In other news...
I'm running on E today. Literally, falling asleep as I type this. I definitely need to recharge this weekend. I'm hoping for lots of rest mixed in with lots of work and errands. Oh boy. I can do this.
What are your plans for the weekend? Anything exciting??
Make it a good one!
